Neat Scrapbook Page Idea!

In my recent Scrapbooks, etc. magazine, there was a neat Scrapbook layout ... I've tried my best to recreate it in 'Paint' to show (see above). You'll just have to excuse the poor drawing skills! ;o)

Anyway... It was basically a "meme" like you'd find on a blog! She had two pics of herself and then, along the right-hand side, there was a list of 29 things that she loved as she was about to turn 29! The bottom had different colors of ribbon pasted on, as well as a few more along the side on the far-right at the top.

What a neat idea! You could do one of these for each year, and then look back to see what changed, and what stayed the same! :-) I love it!

Crafting Wishlist

I don't craft very often. The main reason for this is that I never seem to have money for the tools I need to do my crafting! I have a very limited supply of Scrapbooking materials, and knitting / crocheting materials. I would love to get into rubber stamping, cross stitching, and beading, but crafting is expensive!

So, I've come up with a plan! ;o)

I always seem to "find" the money I need for books (LOL), so I've decided to keep a jar in my cupboard that's for "Crafting supplies" only! I've created a (somewhat long) list of the crafting supplies I'd like to get, and I will slowly save up and buy the items off this list. If I can save up for books, I can save up for crafting tools, too! ;o)

MY CRAFTING WISHLIST:
(Those marked with an asterisk (*) are the VERY expensive items!)

  • 4-drawer plastic storage unit

  • 2 x 3-drawer plastic storage units

  • beading tray

  • beading how-to book

  • scrapbooking markers & pens

  • watermark pen

  • chalk pad(s)

  • corner-rounder punch (probably CM)

  • Personal Trimmer from Creative Memories

  • Scrapbooking stickers x 4 pkgs.

  • beads x 5 pkgs.

  • beading wire x 3 rolls

  • beading accessories (clasps, etc)

  • ribbon x 4 colors

  • scrapbooking embellishments x 5 pkgs.

  • rubber stamps x 10

  • cross stitch pattern book

  • cross stitch embroidery hoop

  • cross stitch fabric

  • cross stitch embroidery thread x 6 colors

  • Digital Camera *

  • 3-in-1 printer/copier/scanner *

  • new 12x12" Scrapbook

  • plastic divider cases for beads (3)

I figure that keeping my wishlist here, on my blog, will be a good (safe) place to keep it -- it won't get lost! And, I can scratch off each item as I get it. :o)

Notice that I put storage solutions first on my list? LOL. My sister-in-law had some great pics on her blog, the other day, of her craft stuff all organized in plastic storage units, and it gave me the idea for storing my OWN craft stuff. Right now, I have my craft stuff in 3-5 places: scrapbooking markers and glue, etc are in a plastic bin on top of my wardrobe unit; scrapbook, itself, is down on the floor between the bookshelf and the wardrobe; miscellaneous crafting supplies (lids for homemade stamps, etc) are up in a crate on top of the wardrobe; knitting/crocheting supplies are in a small Rubbermaid bin in my closet; and my fabric, glue-gun, and other photo-album-creation materials are in a second Rubbermaid bin in my closet. :-) So, it's kind of all over the place, and I'd love to have a better-organized method. ;o) Hopefully soon!

Notice, too, how I even snuck a few books onto my list? LOL. But, how am I to learn how to do something if I don't have a how-to book? Tee hee. ;-P

Just a note: I linked to the SONY Cyber-Shot digital camera, but that's not necessarily the one I'd go with ... I'm still researching which camera would be best for me.
Also, the 3-in-1 printer/copier/scanner isn't necessarily the one I'd go with, either -- I just wanted to link to a picture so people would know what I was talking about. My dad has one, and I think it's really cool! ;o)

My Creative Abilities

God has blessed me with a creative spirit... I love to create! I'm a crafty girl at heart, and I think that's where my daughter gets it from. ;o) Though, I come by it honestly... My father was an artist for the police department for a time, and my mother has always been "crafty" (hee hee). She loves to draw, and her specialty is Interior Design -- she never took courses in it, but I keep telling her it's "never too late"... she should! She's very good at it. :o)

Anyhoo. I have my own "talents". Here's what I love to do:

  • scrapbook

  • draw / doodle

  • paint

  • make cards

  • create fabric-covered photo albums as gifts

  • crochet

  • knit (but this VERY rarely -- I prefer crocheting)

  • write (stories & poetry)

  • make bookmarks

  • draw residential floor-plans, or create them using my BHG computer program!

I'm sure there's more. ;o)

I take great pleasure in creating. I love to make the fabric-covered photo albums as gifts ... it's always awesome to tailor each one to the person I'm giving it to, and then to watch their face as they open it. :-)

I'm not good at making cards. But, I try! I'm hoping to some day be as good as my sister-in-law... she's REALLY good at creating cards! (see?) ;o)

Welcome!

I'm not entirely sure what I'm going to post here, yet, so bear with me... I just got this feeling, this morning, that I needed a blog for my creative side, and so... voila! Here it is!

Stay tuned! ;o)
